Registered Veterinary Nurse
Please join us in welcoming Rachel to the Beacon View team! Rachel joined us earlier this year so many of you will have already had the privilege of meeting her 🥰
From a young age, Rachel was captivated by animals, inspired by the James Herriot books she read as a child. This passion initially led her to dream of becoming a vet in the Yorkshire Dales, although life took her down a different path. At school, Rachel’s strengths in reading and writing led her to study English at university, which transitioned into a career in teaching. However, after several years, she realised that working with animals, rather than teenagers, was her true calling.
“The incredibly positive and enthusiastic attitude of every single team member at Beacon View is such a wonderful environment to be in. Even when the third Friday emergency arrives here at half six, everyone just pulls together and continues to stay cheery—it makes such a difference to how you view your workplace. The other key factor about Beacon View is how much everyone cares, both about the animals that they look after and the people in those animals’ lives. They are considered and cared for as though they are members of the team’s extended family.”
Her primary interest lies in feline behaviour, a devotion stemming from her membership in the ‘Crazy Cat Lady Club’ since the age of three. She continually seeks to understand cats better and applies this knowledge to her own two cherished cats, Bertie and Betty-Boop.
Outside of work, Rachel enjoys outdoor activities like walking and paddle boarding, although her cats are yet to join her on these adventures! She is a fan of live comedy and cherishes time spent with family and friends. At home, Rachel indulges in reading, especially crime novels, and explores various creative hobbies such as sewing, glass painting, and her latest interest, pottery. She also volunteers regularly at a local rescue centre, believing that one can never have too many animals in their life.
If you have a question or need some advice (or just fancy a chat) we are always happy to talk. We love to write to please let us know what you would like to see next on our blog!
